Laie Temple Open House {Hawaii:: Day 3}

This morning we went to the Laie temple open house with the Haynie's, Jeppsen's, and Robison's (some of the Haynie's friends that are here as well). It was so neat to be able to go through the temple after the rennovation. It is beautiful and full of Hawaiian influence. One of my favorite things is to see how they always incorporate the local area into each temple. We will hopefully be able to attend one of the dedication sessions on the 21st.

The Haynie's brought our friend Ann with them to help out with their kids, and Avalynn LOVES Ann! They have lots of fun together!

Ask and Ye Shall Recieve

Yesterday in sacrament meeting our newly called bishopric spoke. One of the counselor's talks really made me think and there were several things he talked about that made me have "aha" moments. He first talked about Joseph Smith and how he and a smiple yet importnant question in his life when wondering which church to join. He related that to us in these days, and how we probably don't simply just ask Heavenly Father for answers to small and simply things in our lives. Then he spoke on how the Lord has so many blessings in store for us beyond our comprehension and made this statement that I hasn't left my mind:

"It would be against the law of agency for the Lord to give us blessings we don't ask for"

Wow! He then went on to say that He is so willing and ready to bless us with those things we want and need, we simply need to do our part and ask for them! There are things in my life that I sometimes think, "why isn't this working out" or "I wonder why it's taking so long to figure this out", and I realize now that I'm not asking him for them to happen!

Mother's Who Know

I really liked this talk when Sis. Beck gave it. Even though I don't have children it made me think about the things I am doing now as I prepare for them to come to our home. I will keep this talk handy as the motherhood years come as a reminder of those things my children will need spiritually. 

President Hinckley

My heart is full in hearing the passing of our beloved Prophet, President Hinckley. Although the news didn't come as a surprise being that he has been telling us over and over he doesn't know how long he will make it, I was still kind of taken back, because I almost never really thought it would happen! I am so thankful for the things I was taught by President Hinckley, and will always think of him as "my" prophet, as he was the one I grew up with. I was thinking last night after hearing of his passing how glorious a day it must have been in Heaven yesterday. While we are here on earth grieving our loss, those above his I am sure there was a Heavenly Host singing as he entered into the gates of our Heavenly Father. The thing that makes me the happiest about his passing is knowing that he is now with his wife, Majorie, how happy that reunion must have been! I am so thankful for the knowledge and testimony I have of a living prophet on this earth!
